Pack Planning Meeting

October 1, 2007

Attendance:

Julie Swank (Secretary), Rich Schatzel (Den 7), Brian MacGregor (Scout Master), Terri Timm (Den 19 & Popcorn), Mitch Long (Assistant Scout Master/Den 18), Matt Gates (Den 14), Roger Mittelstadt (Den 10), Chad Jorgensen and Stephanie Safgren (Den 2), Michelle Strain & Lisa Gallagher (Den 11), Dan Roeder (Popcorn).

The meeting came to order at 7:15 at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron, MN.

Old Business:

  • Boy Talks – Went very well at the school.  As a result there was a great turnout at the Join Scouting Night.
  • Join Scouting Night – 30 new scouts signed up.  An additional 5 Scouts have signed up following the event.  3 new Tiger Den Leaders, 1 new assistant Tiger Den Leader, and 1 new Wolf Den Leader.
  • Scouting Kickoff at Oxbow – 125 people (total).  Total amount spent $119.65.  PA system needs to be replaced.  This is something for the Pack to discuss as an Action Item later.  Starting the event at 5:30 p.m. works much better considering the sun sets sooner during this season.  The event wrapped up by 7:30 p.m.  A suggestion for next yea’s event: Briefly talk with the scouts regarding the importance of selling their popcorn instead of having their parents sell the popcorn.  Also explain to the scouts what their popcorn sales are used for, and where their money is used.
  • Leadership Training – November 17th, 8:15 a.m. at Pax Christi in Rochester.

Action Items:

No Action Items at this time.

Round Table:

There is nothing to report from Round Table until October 4th.

Treasure Report:

No report at this time.  Rich Schatzel was not present to give a report,

New Business:

  • October Pack Meeting – Sign up sheet went around the table for each den to sign up to host a different Halloween booth at the event.  The Pack pays for the food and prizes.  Dens are responsible to sponsor and man a fun booth.
  • Popcorn – Kickoff for popcorn took place at the Oxbow Event.  All scouts should have their popcorn packets.  All popcorn packets are due to their Den Leaders by November 27th.
  • November Pack Meeting – Brian MacGregor proposed a Father Son Cake Bake/Auction, to take place on November 29th at the Byron High School.  Lisa Gallagher to check in to an Auctioneer.  If Auctioneer is unavailable, Mitch Long will be the Auctioneer.  All proceeds will be given to the Pack to use for future events.
  • Scouting For Food – No formal information has been given by BSA Gamehaven as of yet.  As more information is released, Brian will bring to the Pack Planning Meeting.  Dan Roeder has the map used in years past.
