Pack Planning Meeting

December 3rd, 2007

 

Attendance:

Rich Schatzel (Treasurer & Den 19), Brian MacGregor (Cub Master), Mitch Long (Assistant Cub Master/Den 18), Matt Gates (Den 14), Michelle Strain (Den 11), Dan Roeder (Popcorn).Ann Wing (Den 1), Lisa Callagher (Den 22)

 

The meeting came to order at 7:15 at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron, MN. 

 

Old Business:

  • Halloween Carnival: Cost $120.  Attendance was approximately 169 people total (62 scouts, 69 adults, 38 other kids)
  • Ten Commandments Hike – 7 Scouts attended from Byron.  A religious growth award – It is available for all Cub Scouts.
  • Popcorn sales: $19,000 in sales – Pack bought an additional $139 in popcorn in order to achieve our goal and receive an extra 5% in sales earnings.
    1. 7 scouts sold over $750 and received extra prizes
    2. 10 scouts sold more than $500
    3. Trophies were handed out at the November meeting and totals by average sales per scout were announced.
    4. Some Bear and Webelo achievements were signed off on based their popcorn sales.
  • Food Drive: We collected 1900 pounds of food – Thank you to everyone for all of your help.
  • Cake Bake: $712 was raised.  46 cakes were submitted.  Feedback – New PA system is needed.  People enjoyed it but perhaps next year look at a different time of year to have the event.

December Pack Meeting results will be discussed and posted in the next set of minutes.`

Funds available in checkbook: $5,500.00

 

New Business:

  • Pinewood Derby: Saturday January 26th, Byron Elementary School.  Tigers register from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. (race at 9:30).  Wolfs register from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. (race at 10:00) Bears register from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (rate at 10:30) Webelos I & II register from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. (race at 11:00)  The top 2 from each division will race at 11:30 a.m.
    1. The Pack will offer insight for new parents and cub scouts on January 7th at Christ Lutheran Church at 6:30 p.m.
    2. There will be “Cool Blue” awards offered again this year (Derby cars judged based on appearance and creativity).
    3. The track and the sensors will be looked at prior to derby day.
    4. NO LUBRICANTS ALLOWED on axles this year.
    5. Additional rules were passed out at the last pack meeting and den leaders were sent a copy as well.  You will also find the rules and check in procedures attached to the minutes.
  • Science Museum trip was discussed.  More information will be communicated to den leaders soon.
  • Blue and Gold Dinner: It will be potluck by den this year.  Brian is in the process of lining up entertainment for the event.  More information will be communicated to den leaders soon.
  • Pancake Breakfast: Discussion took place among the committee members.  No decisions were reached.  The subject will continue to be discussed at the next Pack Planning meeting and decisions will be reached and posted in the next set of minutes.
